Carel-Louis Steenkamp

I am a professional safari field guide and wildlife photographer, born and raised in South Africa. Growing up, I spent a lot of time at Erindi Private Game Reserve, where I developed a deep love and appreciation for nature. It was here that I discovered my passion for wildlife and the environment.

After finishing high school, I decided to take a gap year and become a safari field guide. This allowed me to spend even more time in nature and share my love for the natural world with others. What was initially intended as a gap year eventually ended up paving the path to my profession.

As I grew older, I realised that the natural world is facing many challenges, from habitat loss to climate change, and I felt a strong desire to do something about it. My lifelong passion for nature and educating others makes my role as a conservation wildlife photographer a perfect fit.

I now focus on using my photography to protect and conserve the planet by educating the public and sharing my fine art to raise awareness, evoke emotion, and encourage conservation action.

Through my photography, I hope to make a positive impact on the world and inspire people to appreciate and protect the natural world. I believe that by sharing the beauty of nature, I can help create a more sustainable and harmonious relationship between humans and the environment.
